Our clients, two doctoral students with 4.0 grade point averages, were targeted after one of them objected to discriminatory treatment over the food he brought to work. What started as a single remark escalated over the following year into the loss of their faculty advisers, their teaching appointments, and ultimately their doctoral funding.
We filed the case in federal court in Denver. The case resolved for $200,000, and both clients received their degrees as part of the settlement.
