Family of Colorado man killed by deputy outside Highlands Ranch entertainment venue files wrongful death lawsuit

Jalin Seabron

A civil wrongful‑death action has been initiated by the family of 23‑year‑old Jalin D’Angelo Seabron, through the Tyrone Glover Law Firm, against Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Moore in connection with a February 8, 2025, shooting outside The Main Event entertainment venue in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

According to the complaint, sheriff’s deputies were responding to reports of an active shooter when they encountered Mr. Seabron in the venue’s parking lot holding a handgun. Deputy Moore, identified as the first officer on scene, allegedly instructed Mr. Seabron to drop the weapon before discharging his firearm nine times within approximately three seconds.

The lawsuit filed by the Tyrone Glover Law Firm underscores an alleged discrepancy between the sheriff’s office account of the incident and video evidence referenced in the complaint. The family asserts that the footage shows a seven‑second interval between Deputy Moore’s exit from his patrol vehicle and the moment he opened fire, and only about three seconds between issuing the command to drop the weapon and shooting. The suit challenges whether Deputy Moore’s use of deadly force was justified under these circumstances.
